As a space for creation and production in a changing visual arts environment, the SeMA Nanji Residency supports and fosters competitive writers and researchers through collaboration and process-oriented programs. SeMA also provides artists and curators who have participated in the residency program with opportunities to take part in overseas residency programs through partnership agreements.
SeMA NANJI Residency is a member of Res Artis, running an international residency program for artists and researchers in the visual arts. However, in the international environment changed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the studio-centered residency program was facing the limits, and various forms of collaboration across online and offline became necessary. From 2023, SeMA NANJI Residency plans to focus on international residency programs through collaboration between institutions rather than regular open-call. SeMA NANJI Residency welcomes proposals for cooperation on international exchange programs and projects of institutions in the visual arts.
As a form of follow-up support, SeMA Nanji Residency provides artists and researchers who have taken part in Nanji Residency programs with opportunities to participate in overseas residency programs available through partnership agreements. The selected artist or researcher can take part a three month-long residency program operated by a partner institution of SeMA.
