Introduction

Laia Ventayol-Garcia is a visual artist and researcher living in Barcelona. In her work she uses time-based media such as video, performance and continual dialogue, as well as installation. Conceptually, she is interested in time and movement, transition, translation and deviation on perception. Her research deals with the circulation of knowledge and affect, in addition to collective work. With her practice, at times her aim is to gain knowledge, whereas at other times she attempts to lose preconceptions (knowledge) regarding specific topics.

Laia Ventayol-Garcia began her studies in Fine Art at the University of Barcelona ES and continued at the Akademie der bildenden Kunste Nurnberg DE with Prof. Heike Baranowsky. In 2017, she received the 'Meisterschuler' qualification for her career in Nuernberg. In 2021, she obtained an MA with honours in Theory of Literature and Compared Literature at the University of Barcelona. She currently works as a research assistant for Catalan poetry at the University of the Balearic Islands ES.
