The Buk-Seoul Museum of Art coexists with its local community. Located in Nowon-gu―an area whose name is derived from the “Reed Hill” nearby―the museum is an open structure with its entrance connected to a park. In addition to outdoor sculpture exhibitions, it offers maze-like galleries, an art library, a cafe, and a multipurpose hall. These spaces host a variety of programs for families, which make up the majority of visitors to this museum.
The Buk Seoul Museum of Art is designed to be a cultural venue that integrates an art museum and outdoor park while facilitating the communication between humans, nature, and art. The museum is located on a small hill representative of the natural beauty of Nowon-gu, or “Ward of Reed Hill,” which is defined by the two scenic mountains, Surak and Bulam Mountain, that stand in the ward. The museum is situated within the outdoor sculpture park, and its entrance is easily accessible using the footpath in the park.
The auditorium serves as a venue for various cultural events held for visitors to the Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, including exhibition-related events, movie screenings, and concerts.
Located on the 1st basement floor and with the size of 306㎡, the gallery enhances its uniqueness with its 17m high, 3-floor vertically opened ceiling.
Unlike the other galleries, it has its own path leading to the gallery, and the basement hall can be used as an exhibition area for the organization of joint exhibitions.
Various educational and community programs of the museum, from creative activities for children and conversations with artists to art history lectures, will be held at the studio. The programs will take place at Studios 1, 2, and 3.
Located on the 1st floor, this gallery has the largest exhibition area among all of the Buk-Seoul Museum of Art’s exhibition galleries. Located inside the gallery is a stair that leads visitors to Exhibition Gallery 2; visitors can also reach Project Gallery 1 using the bridge.
Located on the 1st floor, the path leads to Exhibition Gallery 1. With the installation of a luminous ceiling lighting system, the gallery provides consistent illumination regardless of height and without creating any shadows.
Visitors to the museum can enjoy a cup of coffee and a relaxing atmosphere at Cafe SeMA & Art Shop. It also offers art products created by artists, allowing you the opportunity not only to view them but to buy them as well.
Located on the 2nd floor, the size of the gallery is 705㎡. Located inside the gallery is a stair that leads visitors to Exhibition Gallery 1; visitors can also reach Project Gallery 2 using the bridge.
Located on the 2nd floor, the path leads to Exhibition Gallery 2 and the Sculpture Terrace. It is the smallest gallery.
Art Library: The library is open to those visiting the Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, and it provides art books and other materials on related topics.
