SeMA Nanji Residency is a space that supports artists and researchers’ production activities. A former leachate treatment facility nestled between Noeul Park and Sky Park in Nanji Hangang Park, SeMA Nanji Residency is located in central Seoul with excellent accessibility. This open-air work area (72 ㎡) is has been created inside a tent equipped with a variety of devices and tools used by the artists participating in the residency. This area is used by artists working on large sculptural works that require a large workspace.
Created by remodeling the sedimentation tank and sludge thickener of the former Nanji Leachate Treatment Plant, the Nanji Exhibition Galleries (232 ㎡ in total area) feature unique circular spaces. The spaces are used to exhibit experimental works created by the artists-in-residence.
This studio bldg (616 ㎡) contains eight artist studios, a meeting room, a kitchen, and washing and shower rooms. Currently seven Korean and overseas artists reside here together with a researcher. The meeting room is furnished with equipment that includes video and audio systems required for conferences and lectures on various subjects.
This studio bldg (1,152 ㎡) consists of seventeen artist studios, a reference room, and offices. The studios are currently occupied by sixteen fine artists and one art researcher, and their portfolios are displayed for visitors in the Reference Room.
Consisting of two buildings, Nanji Exhibition Gallery 1 is on the left and Gallery 2 is on the right of the entrance. These spaces are used not only for exhibitions but also the production of art and film shoots.
This reference room provides the portfolios and archives of former artists and researchers-in-residence at Nanji Residency. Reservations are required to use the reference room. Please contact us in advance for reservation.
