Jade Sujin LEE explores a range of invisible signs and sensations, including light, memory, and sound, which appear in particular border areas of the everyday world. Based on the imagination, she reconstructs the fluid concepts that flow between the temporality of the ‘past-present-future,’ expressing them through various creative forms that encompass sculpture, spatial work, installation, performance, narration, and video. LEE has discovered the various ways in which nature and disparate spaces and places are layered with time. She overlaps ‘sci-fi imagination to transcend the present,’ and the ‘primitive vitality that revives (or rehabilitates)’ ― which transform the state of ‘confrontation and conflict’ that has been continuously manifested since the transition to industrial society into a situation of ‘reconciliation and healing’ ― with specific situations, attempting to make the infinite possibilities compatible with them.
Her recent solo exhibitions are Telic (Seoul Young Artist Platform, Seoul, 2023) and Change or Trans-Hiking (Platform-L Contemporary Art Center, Seoul, 2022) and her work has also been presented in numerous art projects including Not Painting (Daegu Art Museum, Daegu, 2023), National Assembly Secretariat × ACC Media Art Project (National Assembly Building, Seoul, 2023). LEE has participated in international residencies and research projects, such as Basis Frankfurt (Frankfurt, Germany, 2023) and to continue her art work in a wide range of exhibitions, interdisciplinary collaborations, performances, and public projects. All the structures and relations LEE creates together push forward a forceful collective resistance and contemplation on what it means to be an artist today.

a residency program operated by the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) that was launched in 2006 after remodeling unused facilities in Nanji Hangang Park. Conceived as a means of supporting capable artists and researchers in Korea, the Residency organizes exhibitions such as the 'NANJI ART SHOW' and 'Art Critic Workshop', and runs other programs designed to enhance exhibitions and research capability. It also operates the International Artist Exchange Program to utilize international residency network and multiply exchanges, and hosts lectures in which art experts from Korea and other countries are invited to participate. By 2009, SeMA Nanji Residency had firmly established itself as a creative studio by providing creative spaces and working conditions to domestic young artists. Starting in 2010, it began to take the form of a program by subdividing its activities into ‘exhibition’, ‘research and academics’, and ‘exchange’, and supporting and operating them systematically. Since 2012, it has been developing into an international residential organization by operating various programs.
