서울시립 서서울미술관은 2026년 3월 12일 개관특별전으로 세마 퍼포먼스 《호흡》을 개최합니다. 서서울미술관에서 연례로 개최될 세마 퍼포먼스는 시간과 공간, 인간의 행위에 대한 깊은 사유를 통해 퍼포먼스 기반의 작업을 만들어 온 동시대 예술가를 소개하고, 새로운 창작과 실험을 지원합니다. ‘퍼포먼스는 무엇인가’를 질문하며 자연과 문화와 역사를 반영하는 예술적 움직임, 사운드, 조명, 목소리, 오브제 등을 통해 미술관 공간의 새로운 쓰임을 상상합니다.
서서울미술관의 시작을 알리는 세마 퍼포먼스 《호흡》은 총 25명(팀)의 작가가 참여하여 인간과 환경을 미디어로 이해하고, 유기적인 운동인 ‘호흡’을 주제로 신체와 사회와 예술의 교차점을 탐구합니다. 공기를 이동과 인지, 생명의 조건이 되는 매질로 보고, 대기 환경 안에 거주하는 존재와 삶, 서로가 연결된 관계를 살펴봅니다. ‘호흡’은 열림과 닫힘, 팽창과 수축의 교대하는 움직임을 통해 전 지구적인 환경을 몸으로 받아들이고, 내·외부 물질의 지속적인 교류를 통해 삶의 추진력으로서 행동을 발생시킵니다.
공기가 표류하는 미술관 공간에서 인간 존재의 기반이자 서식지인 신체는, 생태학적이고 존재론적인 미디어로서 보이지 않는 변화를 감지하는 지표가 됩니다. 상태를 측정하고 조율하기 위한 움직임, 가변적인 감정과 목소리는 신체적이고 정서적인 행위로서 퍼포먼스의 스코어를 수행하는 동시에 비선형적이고 다성적인 시공간을 발현시킵니다.
지속해서 형성되고 해체되는 세계와 다양한 접촉면을 만들어갈 세마 퍼포먼스 《호흡》에 많은 관심과 기대를 부탁드립니다.

The Seo-Seoul Museum of Art will begin SeMA performance "Breathing" on March 12, 2026 as a special opening exhibition. To be held annually at the art museum, SeMA performance will introduce contemporary artists who have created performance-based works through profound reflection on time and space and human action and support new creations and experiments. Posing the question “What is performance?” it will imagine new uses for the space of the art museum through artistic movements, sounds, lighting, voices, and objets that reflect nature, culture, and history.
Heralding the start of the Seo-Seoul Museum of Art, SeMA performance "Breathing" will involve the participation of a total of 25 artists/teams, understanding humans and the environment as media and exploring intersections of the body, society, and the arts under the topic of breathing, which is an organic movement. Seeing air as a medium that sustains movement, cognition, and life, it will examine beings and lives in the atmospheric environment and mutually connected relations.
In the space of the art museum, where air drifts, the body, the basis and habitat of human existence, becomes an index sensing invisible changes as an ecological and ontological medium. Movements to measure and coordinate states, and variable emotions and voices simultaneously execute the scores of performances as physical and emotional actions and reveal nonlinear and polyphonic time and space.
