아라타 미노는 사진, 연극, 설치를 넘나드는 작업을 통해 허구적 서사를 활용하여 일상에 내재된 복잡한 사회적·역사적 문제를 드러낸다. 미군 기지가 위치한 지역과 같이 모순이 공존하는 공간에서 연구를 진행하고, 이를 바탕으로 쓴 대본을 전시나 퍼포먼스를 통해 ‘연기’하는 방식으로 풀어낸다. 그는 현실과 허구의 경계에 자신을 위치시키고, 관객이 스스로가 내부자인지 외부자인지 질문하도록 유도함으로써 일상 속에 숨겨진 사회적·정치적 질문을 탐색하게 한다. 전시 공간 뿐만 아니라 호텔이나 공공 장소에서도 펼쳐지는 그의 작업은 직접적인 저항보다는 유머와 부조리를 활용하여 관객을 자연스럽게 개입시킨다. 이러한 접근 방식은 우리가 누구인지, 그리고 더 넓은 세계와 어떻게 관계 맺고 있는지에 대한 기존의 인식을 미묘하게 비튼다.
