박나라는 미국 메릴랜드 예술대학에서 순수미술을 전공하고 동대학원에서 조각 석사 학위를 취득하였다. 미국을 기반으로 작가 활동을 이어오다 2021년 귀국하였다. 그의 작업은 우리가 살아가는 물리적인 세상과 우리의 관계, 그리고 그곳에 남겨지는 흔적을 탐구한다. 또한 자연과 인공, 실제와 모방의 경계를 오가며, 진정성의 의미에 대하여 묻는다.
개인전으로는 《I Live》(Plain Sight, 워싱턴 디씨, 2021), 《Presence》(VisArts, 락빌, 메릴랜드, 2020), 《Enduring Marks》(CulturalDC, 워싱턴 디씨, 2018), 《What Remains》(Hamiltonian Gallery, 워싱턴 디씨, 2017), 《Believe》(Kohl Gallery, Washington College, 체스터타운, 메릴랜드, 2016) 등이 있으며, 필립스 컬렉션(워싱턴 디씨), Grounds for Sculpture(해밀턴, 뉴저지), Rush Arts Gallery(뉴욕), Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans(뉴올리언스), 아메리칸 대학교 미술관(워싱턴 디씨) 등에서 다수의 단체전에 참여하였다. 스미소니언 아메리칸 아트 뮤지엄과 스미소니언 허쉬혼 뮤지엄에서 아티스트 토크에 참여하여 작업을 소개한 바 있으며 필립스 컬렉션, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities 등에 작품이 소장되어있다. 2024년 난지미술창작스튜디오에 입주하여 국내에서 작가 활동을 이어가고 있다.
