Nicolas Pinier is a French artist who lives and works in Metz (France). He defends a poetic approach to the real: anchored in everyday life, his practice is based on the meeting, the possibility of stepping aside, the staging of oneself and others. By means of performance, video and photography, it provokes situations that allow fiction to infiltrate the real.
Humour, fantasy, absurdity are part of Nicolas Pinier’s vocabulary. His universe also borrows from the tale, which brings out the marvelous by the breaks of scale, the mise en abime and the magical transports. Take a trip with a garden caravan seems plausible: in the Jardin de Voyage installation, he circulates flowers balcony, removable kitchen garden and turf to meet new territories, joining the great family of fervent defenders of a ≪magical realism≫.
