Succeeding the former Seoul Art Exhibition initiated in 1985, Seoul Focus is seeing its 31st edition this year. While it has been introducing various aspects of contemporary art based on different media and genre, this year, Seoul Focus brings out the history and space of the old city Seoul. Especially, it will shed light on the relationship between contemporary art and the urban manufacturing cluster that continues along Cheonggyecheon stream from Changsin-dong to Euljiro and more on.
As the title implies, this exhibition starts from the reflection upon standardized products that form the foundation of industrialized cities and shows how the commonality of smallest components symbolizing industrialization, such as bolts and nuts, is reborn to contemporary art through the artists' 'irreplaceable' language of plastic art.
