(oh, shyness)
As we emerge from the life of isolation in the pandemic crisis, (oh, shyness) whispers on the margins, on the hidden, subtle, and mysterious side of things. It suggests the fragment versus the whole, the quiet versus the loud, the humble versus the arrogant.
The paradox of blushing: making oneself more visible at the very moment when one wants to be invisible. (oh, shyness) is a return to localized creativity, with objects, moving images, and situations that try to hide, that don’t fit in, yet – with tenderness, hesitance, and awkwardness – reveal themselves.
Thirty years ago, four young artists from different backgrounds hid their humble works in the basement, office, or back room of three spaces in the New York neighborhood of SoHo. Today, they inhabit interstitial and hidden spaces of Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, with new and old thoughts. You may want to try to find them. (Text by Luca Buvoli)

The Buk-Seoul Museum of Art coexists with its local community. Located in Nowon-gu―an area whose name is derived from the “Reed Hill” nearby―the museum is an open structure with its entrance connected to a park. In addition to outdoor sculpture exhibitions, it offers maze-like galleries, an art library, a cafe, and a multipurpose hall. These spaces host a variety of programs for families, which make up the majority of visitors to this museum.
