Artist Talk Quest for Electricity
Buk-Seoul Museum of Art presents the artist talk Quest for Electricity as a public program in conjunction with the exhibition Electric Shock. The program invites participants to explore galleries in which the “supply of electricity has been cut off,” imagining and experiencing a possible catastrophic future.
Held after museum hours in a darkened exhibition space, the program unfolds as a journey in search of electricity. Moving among works that are no longer fully operational, participants reconsider the meaning of electricity as a fundamental driving force and resource of contemporary society. In conversation with the artist, they examine the conditions of media art that have long relied on electricity and explore the practical possibilities that art might propose in today’s “age of electric hegemony.”
More than an opportunity to better understand the exhibition and its works, this artist talk invites us to reconsider the presence of electricity―something we have long taken for granted. We warmly invite you to join us on this journey in search of what electricity truly means.
