“In the vortex of ‘the era of post-medium/museum,’ I hold infinite interest in practices that (aim to) rewrite the coordinates of the system of existing art/media history, while not being just astonished, madly swayed, or parasitic on the time gap between borders.”
Junghyun Kim

“My purpose is to materialize a critical perspective without being bound to a format like exhibition, performance, or print, and to unfold art criticism as a debater of artists not an interpreter of artwork.”

“Curator/Artist or (Un)Vanishing Mediator called G-Dragon” (Designated theme)
“Artist as Collector or Curator of the World: On Artist Donghee Koo” (Free theme)
Junghyun Kim
“Mediacity Seoul 2014: Ghosts, Spies, and Grandmothers: From media discourse to the archive of spiritual medium” (Designated theme)
“What is the infection route of performance? In search of the contemporaneity of the performance art” (Free theme)
Yung Bin Kwak demonstrated critical consistency by unfolding both of his articles (designated and free theme) in the single perspective of “artist as curator.” Judges acclaimed that Kwak’s article was a bold riposte to the contemporary artist Donghee Koo, who is difficult to comprehend, with sentences as challenging as Koo’s work. He also received commendation for his excellent understanding of cinematic arts compared to other entries.
Junghyun Kim examined how performance, which was treated as an event, become a mainstream art form. She explained this phenomenon with the rise of interdisciplinary art in the art scene. She also earned a favorable review for her deep understanding of the current state of art institutions, from authoritative museums to newly emerging independent spaces.
